Students in Temasek Polytechnic (TP) will get more exposure to relevant job opportunities in the industry via open houses, factory tours and industry talks, as well as be given internship placements and the chance to work on collaboration projects with relevant companies in the Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) estates. At the same time, these companies, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), will be better able to identify skilled talent and offer students job opportunities after their graduation.
This was made possible under a new programme, called “JTC Industry Connect”, which was formalised in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the 5 local polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Workforce Singapore (WSG), SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), and the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) on 15 Jan 2020.
Concurrently, another MOU was signed among the 5 local polytechnics, ITE, e2i, and the Association of Aerospace Industries Singapore (representing more than 40 aerospace-related companies) which renews a talent outreach initiative for the aerospace industry for four more years. First launched in 2018, the initiative, called the “JTC Aerospace Community Engagement”, is a talent development collaboration which aims to help students to understand the variety of relevant jobs available, while creating a strong talent pool to support the manpower needs of the aerospace sector.
