Temasek Polytechnic (TP) continues to make bold strides in its visionary Creating Tomorrow journey. As technological advancement accelerates and industries transform, we recognise that it is not enough to equip our students with just future-ready skills. True transformation begins with nurturing forward-looking mindsets—ones that embrace adaptability, resilience, creativity, and purpose.
To stay ahead in an ever-evolving world, TP continually reviews and enhances its curriculum and pedagogy across both Pre-employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education & Training (CET) pathways. This ensures that our learners are not only technically adept, but also empowered with the curiosity, empathy, and courage to innovate and lead positive change in their communities and workplaces.
TP’s Chairman, Mr Loke Wai San, and Principal & CEO, Mr Peter Lam, reflect on another remarkable year of shaping life- and career-resilient graduates, building bridges across the Public, Private and People sectors, and fostering a culture where skills and values go hand in hand to uplift the wider community.

At TP, we believe the best way to enhance student learning and drive workplace transformation is by working hand-in-hand with our industry partners to create meaningful opportunities. This year, we signed and renewed a total of 65 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to chart new directions in learning, innovation, and workplace skills development. One of this year's top highlights is our partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Together, we established FutureX, TP's new Digital Technologies and AI Centre that leverages leading AWS technologies to enhance the Digital Economy's talent pool. Through this collaboration, our PET and CET students will acquire in-demand skills in cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) across diverse domains. |

On that note, as a leader in the AI-in-education space, TP hosted GENERATIONS, a design and AI conference that connected 300 participants with creative and tech leaders such as STUCK Design, Ideactio, School of Metaskills, Adobe and AWS. The event sparked a vibrant exchange of ideas through workshops and thought-provoking conversations, exploring the future of creativity, technology, and education. |

With the accelerated use of generative AI (GenAI) tools across all industries, it is essential for our staff to strengthen their AI capabilities as well. TP’s GenAI Learning Roadmap comprises baseline modules, along with specialised tracks tailored to the distinct needs of TP’s academic and administrative teams. It covers responsible AI use, prompt engineering skills, workplace productivity and more. This enables our staff to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world, while imparting useful skills that prepare students for the future. |

In addition to advancing the digital frontier, TP is also responding to the growing demand for skilled social services, eldercare, and special needs professionals in Singapore's Care Economy. We launched the part-time Diploma in Psychology (Social Services & Special Needs Education) with the support of sector leaders including Rainbow Centre, Allkin Singapore Ltd, and Trybe Limited. We also partnered with Ren Ci Learning Academy to introduce the Specialist Diploma in Gerontology (Community Care Practice), enabling practitioners to deepen their community- and care-based skills. |

On the PET front, TP has expanded its University Pathway Programme with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to improve admission prospects and expedite career ambitions for students upon graduation. Through this programme, eligible final-year students from selected TP’s School of Engineering diploma courses can take university modules and earn credits towards NUS' Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering programmes. |

To further strengthen our graduates' standing in a competitive job market, TP is proud to pioneer the Skills Transcript, the first of its kind among polytechnics in Singapore. Aligned with SkillsFuture Singapore’s Skills Taxonomy, this personalised record provides employers with a holistic view of the students’ competencies beyond academic achievements. It also captures soft skills expertise, internship experience, and co-curricular achievements, enabling employers to select the right candidate for the job more effectively. |

As climate change reshapes how we live, learn, and work, TP is tackling global sustainability challenges through our Living Lab approach. For example, when the TP community was experiencing uneven indoor temperatures despite campus-wide thermostats set at 25°C, we engaged students from TP’s School of Engineering to investigate. Their data-driven findings, based on airflow simulations and heat stress measurements, led to practical solutions such as redesigned vents and solar-reflective paint. |

Did you know TP is Singapore’s first institute of higher learning to house an industry-standard Chemical Pilot Plant that can convert waste cooking oil into biodiesel? A key feature of TP’s latest applied learning facility, the collaboration with Alpha Biofuels showcases TP’s strong commitment to advancing sustainable solutions in support of the Singapore Green Plan 2030. |

Our efforts to meet the growing demand for talent in this vital area of corporate responsibility also extend to adult learners. Among TP’s 20 new CET offerings is the Specialist Diploma in Sustainability Reporting. Developed in partnership with KPMG, this course equips career upgraders with essential Environmental, Social, and Governance reporting skills to meet regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations. |

These actions reinforce TP’s role in developing Singapore’s workforce for the evolving Green Economy. To explore more of our sustainability efforts and progress, we invite you to read TP’s latest Sustainability Report at www.tp.edu.sg/sustainability. |

Within and beyond our walls, TP Cares has played a significant role in the community, making a positive impact and touching lives in meaningful ways by providing support to those who need it. We are delighted to share that TP has been awarded the Company of Good – 3 Hearts by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). This prestigious accolade places us in the distinguished ranks of leading organisations recognised for their deep commitment to their corporate purpose and making a positive impact across NVPC's five key areas: people, society, governance, environment, and economic. |

Another high note was TP’s second consecutive People’s Association Community Spirit (Excellence) Award. More than just a badge of honour, it recognises TP’s collective efforts in our corporate social responsibility initiatives, such as Project Refresh and Gift of Love. Every achievement, big or small, brings the TP Family one step closer to the future we are creating together. One such moment was when Ng Shi Yu from TP’s Diploma in Applied Artificial Intelligence, represented Team Singapore at the inaugural International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence in Bulgaria. Shi Yu’s AI expertise shone through, contributing to Singapore’s Gold medal win in the competition’s scientific round. |

We were also honoured when our GenAI-powered marketing campaign to promote TP’s Open House event and admissions exercises received the Singapore Digital Initiative of the Year (Education) Award at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2024. TP's in-house designers created visuals and collaterals that demonstrated how GenAI tools, such as Midjourney and ChatGPT can complement and enhance human creativity rather than replace it. |

At TP, we actively support students in developing their skills and gaining exposure through local and international opportunities. One such platform is the biennial WorldSkills competition, which sets the global benchmark for excellence in technical and vocational education. At WorldSkills Lyon 2024, 10 TP students joined Team Singapore to compete against the world's best young talents. By the end of the competition, Singapore achieved a respectable seventh place out of 60 participating countries, with a medal tally of two Gold, four Silver, two Bronze, and 11 Medallions for Excellence—of which TP contributed one Gold, one Silver, one Bronze, and one Medallion for Excellence. |

Last but not least, in sports, TP remains dominant in the annual Polytechnic-Institute of Technical Education (POL-ITE) Games. Team Temasek's medal haul of 12 Gold, 11 Silver and two Bronze at the 2024/25 edition maintained our position as the top-performing polytechnic, a distinction we have proudly held since 2010. Well done, everyone! |

As we mark TP’s 35th anniversary with a year-long line-up of TP35-themed events in 2025, I am reminded that our greatest strength lies in our people and the enduring relationships we have built over the years. None of our achievements would be possible without our dedicated staff, high-spirited students, supportive alumni, and generous donors. Thank you for being part of our shared TP story. |
Peter | |
On behalf of the TP Family, I also extend my heartfelt thanks to our Board of Governors, School Advisory Committees, and industry partners—past and present. Your trust and guidance have been instrumental in shaping TP’s success over the past 35 years. As we look beyond TP35, your support is invaluable in charting new and exciting paths in TP’s journey of Creating Tomorrow. |
