2025 was an especially memorable year for Temasek Polytechnic (TP) as we celebrated TP35, marking 35 years of shaping lives, supporting communities, and driving innovation through our commitment to Creating Tomorrow.
More than a milestone celebration, TP35 demonstrated how we continue to create impact as a OneTP community. The year saw our TP35 Endowment Fund initiative grow to more than S$5 million to support future generations of students, the launch of the inaugural TP Cares Week, which mobilised hundreds of staff and student volunteers to serve the community, and the development of tech and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solutions, ranging from workforce training platforms to language preservation tools.
Few forces are reshaping work and society as rapidly as AI, with far-reaching implications for the future of education. Together with sustainability imperatives and evolving workforce demands, these changes raise important questions for our students and their parents about what lies ahead. This marks a defining moment for polytechnic education — one where applied learning, strong industry partnerships, and lifelong learning matter more than ever in preparing learners for an AI-driven future. At TP, we remain focused on strengthening collaboration across industries, responding to the needs of our Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education & Training (CET) students and partners, and equipping every learner and the wider community with the capabilities and confidence to shape what comes next.
In this year’s message, Mr Loke Wai San, Chairman, Board of Governors, and Mr Patrice Choong, Principal & CEO, reflect on another significant year for TP, outlining the efforts and initiatives guiding the institution’s continued growth.

Keeping seniors active through guided exercise sessions. TP35 reminds us that our progress has always been shaped by purposeful partnerships with industry and community organisations. These collaborations play an essential role in advancing TP’s mission to deliver future-ready training, while strengthening support systems for the wider community. This year, in response to Singapore’s growing eldercare needs, we partnered with St Bernadette Lifestyle Village to launch Singapore’s first campus-based assisted living facility — creating an intergenerational environment that integrates learning, wellness, and community. |
| Wai San | |
The St Bernadette Lifestyle Village@TP serves as both a residence for seniors and a living classroom, where our PET students can gain real-world experience and prepare for in-demand eldercare roles. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, students from various TP Schools contribute collectively to enhancing residents’ quality of life. For example, students from Gerontology develop active ageing programmes, while those from Nutrition improve meal plans, Culinary students help prepare nutritious meals, and Hospitality students organise activities that promote resident engagement. This is the first in a series of new strategic industry-on-campus facilities that will form TP’s broader care ecosystem. Together, these real-world environments will strengthen Singapore’s Care Economy through integrated learning, applied research, service delivery, and community inclusion. |

TP’s School of Engineering students and Aviation Research Centre staff in aerial mapping action in Jambi City. Long-term, sustainable partnerships often begin with meaningful collaborations. Since 2023, TP has worked closely with the Jambi City government in Indonesia to explore how drone technology can support flood monitoring and aerial mapping, laying the groundwork for deeper collaboration in innovation, capability development, and knowledge sharing. Building on the strong trust established between our organisations, we expanded this partnership in 2025 and began developing an affordable drone platform for Jambi City. TP's Aviation Research Centre and students from our aviation- and aerospace-related diploma courses are contributing their expertise to the drone development project, creating valuable applied learning opportunities while supporting real-world impact beyond Singapore's shores. We look forward to seeing this collaboration grow from strength to strength in the years ahead. |

As research executives, Fabian Lee and Sarah Atiqah from TP's Diploma in Game Design & Development developed the Baba Malay e-resource platform, and supported a six-week pilot study at the Peranakan Museum. Beyond industry applications, we also harness AI to support our culture and community. Enter ChakapBot, an AI-powered chatbot TP developed to revitalise the use of Baba Malay through conversational practice. ChakapBot has been featured at community showcases, including the Asian Civilisations Museum, Peranakan Museum, and the Baba Nyonya International Convention in Kuala Lumpur, demonstrating how AI can help preserve endangered languages and bridge cultural gaps. |

Ultimately, the true value of these projects lies in the opportunities they create for our students. Working alongside experienced TP staff, students hone their skills and deepen their expertise as they develop AI- and technology-driven solutions deployed in Singapore and overseas. In doing so, they graduate with experience far beyond the classroom, laying strong foundations for successful careers in a rapidly evolving workplace. |

The answer lay in our shared commitment to care, service, and giving back, which inspired the launch of TP Cares Week, our new flagship corporate social responsibility initiative. Throughout the week, more than 350 staff and student volunteers stepped forward to refresh the homes of low-income seniors and families, clean up East Coast Park beach, and deliver care packs and essential items to households in need. |
| Wai San | |
The TP35 Endowment Fund campaign on giving.sg We also launched the TP35 Endowment Fund through the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre's giving.sg platform, broadening the campaign's reach across the community. The generosity of our donors and partners, together with prevailing government support and TP's dollar-for-dollar matching contribution, grew the fund to more than S$5 million. These funds will support scholarships, bursaries, and new opportunities that strengthen our students' access to quality education. |

Before we close, we want to offer some reassurance to our students and their families. Many of you are watching AI transform the world of work and asking, "What does this mean for my future? Will the education I receive today remain relevant tomorrow?” These are fair questions, and they deserve our honest answers. |

What we can say with conviction is this: TP has always prepared our students by combining applied learning with close industry partnerships and authentic workplace experiences. Through this approach, students develop the judgement, adaptability, and practical skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world. We have also embedded AI across our curricula — not as a standalone subject, but as a capability students can harness in their respective disciplines, further studies and future careers. Every graduate also receives TP’s Skills Transcript alongside their diploma, a first-of-its-kind initiative among polytechnics in Singapore. Aligned with SkillsFuture Singapore's Skills Taxonomy, it captures each student's learning journey by bringing together academic performance, co-curricular involvement, and experiential achievements into a single record. This personalisation enables our graduates to better showcase their skills and strengths when applying for jobs, further studies, and scholarships. For employers, the transcript’s holistic view of each graduate's capabilities beyond academic grades — technical, professional, and transferable skills — enables them to better assess and identify the graduate's suitability and fit for their organisations. |
