Specialist Diploma in Financial Analytics


This course focuses on equipping participants with knowledge and skills in financial analytics.

Upon completing the course, graduates will be able to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • apply business intelligence techniques to produce reports on business performance;
  • select and use appropriate business intelligence applications to support business objectives;
  • apply financial services knowledge to new Fintech business models;
  • develop a financial analytics project using business intelligence techniques.

Target Participants

The target participants are those with a Polytechnic diploma (or equivalent) in a business or IT-related course. Participants may be in the financial services industry and wish to upskill by extending their competencies in the area of financial analytics.

Once a week, 7pm to 10pm on weekdays.

What You Will Learn

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Financial Analytics, students are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs). Each PDC can be completed in 1 semester, ie. 6 months. A certificate will be issued once the requirements for each PDC are met. 

Post-Diploma Certificate in Business Intelligence

This subject introduces students to a basic understanding of statistics and the application of business data analysis tools and techniques to visualise, analyse and interpret the results from these data. Students will learn essential descriptive data measures and data visualisation for describing data using tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI.


This subject introduces students to the concepts and techniques of turning raw data from various sources into information to help organisations better manage their performance. Students will learn to integrate data, use relevant techniques to analyse data, and apply principles of data visualisation to increase the business intelligence quotient of an organisation. Students will learn how to present the analysis using data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau.

Post-Diploma Certificate in Fintech Services

This subject introduces students to core financial services, banking and new Fintech business models.  Students will also learn and compare the current financial processes to new Fintech business models and evaluate their strategic, operational and regulatory requirements based on Singapore’s regulatory policies.  We will also explore the key success factors for Fintech solutions, using the Design Thinking approach.


This subject introduces students to data analytics techniques and provides them with hands-on experience in using appropriate data analytics tools and software to turn financial service data into actionable insights. The subject will allow students to understand how domain knowledge such as banking and financial services can interact with the different areas of analytics applications.

Minimum Entry Requirements

 The minimum entry requirement is at least a Polytechnic Diploma or ITE Technical Diploma/Technical Engineer Diploma/Work-Learn Technical Diploma in a business, technology or IT-related course, or equivalent.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
