Specialist Diploma in Cloud Data Centre Technology & Management


This course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to operate and manage enterprise level Information Technology (IT) service centres, data centres, operations centres and networking centres in the area of cloud computing.

The course objectives are as follows:

  • Design and implement cloud architecture;
  • Analyse various cloud environments;
  • Manage a shared services data centre environment;
  • Execute data centre management projects.


Target Participants
The intended target is working professionals from the information and communications technology industry who possess at least a Polytechnic diploma in IT or equivalent and 1 year working experience.

Course Frequency:

Once a week, 7pm to 10pm on weekdays. The course includes online lessons with collaborative engagement among lecturers and students.

What You Will Learn

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Cloud Data Centre Technology & Management, students are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs). Each PDC can be completed in 1 semester, ie. 6 months. A certificate will be issued once the requirements for each PDC are met.

Post-Diploma Certificate in Cloud Technology

This subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design and implement cloud architecture. It covers networking structure, technologies and protocols for an enterprise cloud network environment. Concepts in network scalability, routing / switching technologies and protocols will also be covered in this subject.

CNC1C02

This subject covers the design and development of cloud solutions by analysing the various cloud environments. Students will learn about server sprawl, shared storage, data replication and virtual desktop solutions.

Post-Diploma Certificate in Data Centre Management

This subject equips students with the skills to manage a shared services data centre. It covers shared services data centre management skillsets such as assessment of appropriateness of shared services, service level management, problem management, change management, business resumption provision and establishment of a management metrics system.

CDC1C02

This subject aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the course to a project. The project will require students to implement data centre infrastructure and service management software. Students would be required to work in teams, present and demonstrate their solutions and products related to shared services data centre management.

Minimum Entry Requirements

 At least a polytechnic diploma (or equivalent) in a technology or IT-related course.

 Holders of other equivalent academic qualifications from foreign institutions will be considered on a case-case basis.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
