Specialist Diploma in Digital Marketing & Communication Management


This course aims to provide the relevant knowledge and skills for business related diploma graduates to enter into the rapidly growing digital marketing & communication services domain areas. The skillsets acquired will be relevant for a range of companies within the Consumer Business and Content & Media industries defined by EDB (https://www.edb.gov.sg/en/our-industries/industries-and-key-activities.html).

Upon completing this course, graduates will be able to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Formulate digital marketing and communication strategy;
  • Recommend and produce relevant digital marketing & communication content;
  • Execute digital marketing related activities and campaign.

Target Participants

The intended target participants are

  • Graduates with relevant diplomas keen to deepen their knowledge in Digital Marketing & Communication;
  • Diploma graduates employed by companies to perform digital & social media marketing and communication related jobs.

Course Frequency:

Approximately 2 face to face classes on weekday evenings (7-10pm) and an additional Sat class (9am-6pm) for each module.

What You Will Learn

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Digital Marketing & Communication Management, students are required to complete 3 modules at TP within a semester and 4 modules at SMU within another semester. The Specialist Diploma in Digital Marketing & Communication Management will be jointly awarded by TP and SMU to participants who have successfully completed and obtained a pass grade for the 7 modules.


Post-Diploma Certificate in Digital Marketing & Communication (Conducted at TP)

This subject focuses on understanding consumer online behaviour and using the different digital marketing and social media tools to engage consumer so as to attract, retain, and create strong relationships. Participants will learn to map customer journey and the strategies company use to engage consumer on the various digital & social media platforms.


This subject introduces participants to the different types of digital content, the creation and usage of these content in the context of a business. Participants will examine the challenges and issues in managing digital content in M-commerce, cross-channel fulfilment, in-store virtual technology, integration of digital media applications and omni-channel customer engagement.


This subject seeks to consolidate what participants had learnt in the earlier two subjects by getting them to complete deliverable(s) that relate to the industry’s operations and/or situations. Participants will be guided to apply their knowledge and skills.

You will understand the communication and media contexts in which stories are created, shared and experienced. Many organizations in strategic communications functions are bound to find particularly helpful for developing compelling stories for investor pitches and/or other marketing activities.

This course builds on 'Foundations in Brand Storytelling'. Using short lectures, examples and lots of in-class exercises, this course will enable students to learn about business story frameworks, presentation design, and non-verbal communication. The course will culminate in a business speech.

Modes of Assessment

Assessment will be based on a combination of coursework components such as written and practical tests, case studies, assignments and projects.

Minimum Entry Requirements

At least a Polytechnic diploma.

Holders of other equivalent academic qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
