Specialist Diploma in Branding Design

Providing creative branding solutions for brands in the marketplace by merely applying design and aesthetics approaches is no longer a formula for success for a brand. A deeper understanding of business concepts applied and integrated as part of the creative strategy results in a more holistic solution. This Specialist Diploma in Branding Design will enable participants to acquire insights into both the theoretical and creative knowledge for building brands in practice at an advanced level. There will be a big focus also on Brand Strategy and Brand Systems which is currently a cornerstone for a branding framework in today’s industry context.

What You Will Learn

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Branding Design, participants are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs). A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each PDC.

Your brand strategy brings your competitive positioning to life, and works to position you as a certain “something” in the mind of your prospects and customers. Learn methodologies to build a successful and engaging brand.


In a globalised world, brands work across geographic boundaries and across cultures, this module will investigate the role of culturally symbolic meanings in brands and for the consumers of these brands, participants will also explore the role of innovation that not only sets the brand apart in a competitive environment but is used to insert the brand into the daily lives of the consumer.

Symbols play an integral role in branding programs. Explore the visual language of  symbols according to their most basic element: form so that the effectiveness of their composition and impact can be assessed without distraction and so that the reader can enjoy them as a pictorial.


Learn how brand systems become the “voice” that clearly enunciates a coherent tone and message of abrand, building a connection between organisation and consumer. Participants will examine and designthe elements of a brand identity that will work together to provide unity, consistency and flexibility.

Modes of Assessment

The subjects in this course are either examination or non-examination based, incorporating both formative and summative assessments. The assessment framework may include class participation, quizzes, assignments, projects, term test and semester examinations.

Minimum Entry Requirements

 At least a Polytechnic diploma in a design-related course, or equivalent;

 Holders of other equivalent academic qualifications from foreign institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
