Basic Counselling Skills

This course will help participants to identify the qualities of an effective para-counsellor. Participants will be taught on the use of appropriate questioning, probing and problem-solving techniques to help individuals.

Certification

Mr Alan Yeo

He has a Master in Experimental Psychology and a Master of Education.  He has over 17 years’ experience as a therapist, and 27 years as a trainer and lecturer. He holds a Specialist Diploma in Counselling and Guidance, a Post Graduate Diploma in Solution Focused Brief Therapy and a Certificate in Eriksonian Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy.

He is in private practice and works frequently with families, couples and individuals, as well as being a lecturer and clinical supervisor for several universities and graduate programs. He is a member of the Films Consultative Panel, appointed by MCI, and is also an appointed Family Life Ambassador by MSF.  He has been/is a counsellor for staff of Nanyang Technological University and Temasek Polytechnic.

Alan was the Editorial Consultant for LIME teen magazine, and is one of 20 local practitioners featured in “Lessons From Therapy’ (Toh H B, 2011).
