Getting valuable experience through the SkillsFuture Earn & Learn Programme
Li Wen graduated from the School of Informatics & IT with a Diploma in Business Intelligence & Analytics in 2016, but her learning didn’t stop there. When she learnt about the Specialist Diploma in Big Data & Analytics under the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP), Li Wen embarked on the course because she wanted to experience what it was like working in the area of analytics.
Li Wen got a job at NCS Pte Ltd as an Application Consultant in June 2016, then started on her ELP. Li Wen’s work at NCS involves doing research and development work, as well as analysing the compatibility of different tools (e.g. R and Qliksense). She also has to delve into her area of training – big data and creating dashboards. Li Wen is thankful that her supervisor at NCS adjusts her work schedule and provides her with time off to study.
Having gone through the programme, Li Wen firmly believes that the ELP gives polytechnic graduates the necessary work experience and helps them to be surer about the next steps in their career.
In May 2017, Li Wen graduated with a Specialist Diploma in Big Data & Analytics (with Merit). Because of the ELP and her work experience at NCS, Li Wen is now more certain about her career choice. She is pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
