Chemical Plant Operations Management

This subject covers the fundamentals and applications of operations management in industrial organizations, specifically the chemical industries.

This subject aims to equip students with the basic knowledge and skills to:

a) describe the principles and concepts in operations management.      

b) apply operations management methodologies and techniques for capacity. planning, scheduling, project planning and purchasing.

Modes of Assessment

  • Assignments – assess student’s understanding of key concepts covered in lectures, their ability to solve the application questions.
  • Tests / Quizzes – measure students’ understanding of key concepts and application of concepts learnt for each topic.
  • Class Participation – measure students’ attitudes and discipline towards learning in terms of completion of assignments and active participation in discussions.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Applied Science (Chemical Technology).

Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.
