Overview

Jointly developed and delivered by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and Temasek Polytechnic, this 18-month work-study programme will allow participants to deepen their skills at the workplace while taking up Skills-based Modular Courses (SBMC) curated from SUSS’s Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology programme.  This ELP is an added pathway for individuals who wish to further their education in a related field of study in Infocomm Technology, as they may receive credit recognition for the undergraduate part-time degree programme.

Target Participants

This ELP is for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of graduation from the polytechnics or Operational Ready Date for National Servicemen from relevant full-time courses of study, who wish to pursue a career in the Infocomm Technology industry.

Career Opportunities

Upon completing the ELP, graduates can look forward to role expansion in their work scope. They can also have the option to complete the remaining modules to obtain the part-time Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology programme at SUSS.  Please see ‘Course Structure’ for more information.

Course Details

Course Commencement 

1st Intake: January 2018

Course Duration

Participants will undergo an 18-month structured training programme, including facilitated learning by SUSS and on-job-training (OJT) with the participating companies.

January 2018: 24 May 2017 to 31 October 2017

Course Structure

SUSS-TP Joint ELP Infocomm Technology participants are required to complete a total of 45 Credit Units or 9 SBMC curated from SUSS’s Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology programme over 3 semesters. Participants must complete the course within 18 months.

Each SBMU will be delivered in 18 hours. 

Certification

A certificate of completion conferred jointly by TP and SUSS will be issued upon meeting the requirement of passing all 9 modules within 18 months (ie. within 3 consecutive semesters).

Progression and Credit Recognition

Participants who successfully complete the ELP are eligible for credit recognition of up to 45 credit units for the SBMCs they have passed and up to another 10 credit units for workplace learning which can be used for the relevant part-time undergraduate degree programmes in SUSS.  Participants who wish to apply for admission and credit recognition to the relevant SUSS part-time undergraduate degree programme may do so directly with SUSS after the completion of the ELP.

Modes of Assessment

The courses in this programme are either written examination or End-of-Course Assessment based, incorporating both formative and summative assessments. The assessment framework will include a range of coursework assignments, pre-class quizzes and end-of-semester examinations.

Eligibility Criteria

Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of either graduation from polytechnics or the Operational Ready date for National Servicemen, from the following full-time programmes are eligible to apply.

*Sign-on incentive is only eligible for Singapore Citizens who are fresh graduates hired by participating companies and officially commenced on the ELP within 3 years of graduation. For male participants who need to complete National Service (NS), the 3-year period will start from their Operationally Ready Date (ORD).

Selection of applicants is at the discretion of the participating companies and participating companies will contact their shortlisted applicants for interview. Applicants have the right to reject the interview if they do not wish to be employed by the company who contacted them.

Only applicants who are hired and placed on the ELP by the participating companies will be invited to submit an online application for the ELP Courses.
