When the world blurs and the music fades, your mind becomes louder than reality. Thoughts flood like water, casting doubt on your past, pain, and existence beyond the noise. You are pulled down into a serene, limitless blue by thoughts that flow like water. As you go down, the light goes out, and the pressure rises. Every yell, echo, and relic of your identity has been absorbed down here. Life, however, may exist even in the deepest of regions. Despite the weight that may destroy them, organisms evolve, grow, and shine. They endure when others cannot, bending instead of breaking.

LAPSE captures this state of distortion—when the world feels unreal, yet you continue to exist within it, learning not just to survive under pressure, but to transform through it.

Hi, I'm Yi Hui!! My design philosophy is to connect with people through shared experiences and tell my story through emotional connections, because I believe life is much deeper than what we see on the surface. Coming from a sports background, I have experienced the harsh reality many athletes face — the constant pressure to perform, comparisons, criticism, toxic environments, and the expectation to appear strong even when one might be struggling internally. Winning feels like validation, but failure often feels like I have failed the world and myself, leading to silent battles with self-doubt and identity. These experiences shaped my perspectives and inspired me to translate my complex emotions into visual concepts through fashion as my medium. Through my work, I aim to reveal what lies beneath the surface and help people understand the emotions that are difficult to express, and that is how I want to grow and explore as a designer.
