Anamnesis explores the fragile psychology of memory and escapism. It examines how nostalgia can shift from gentle comfort into quiet captivity. The collection is rooted in the phenomenon of maladaptive daydreaming and reflects the human urge to retreat into imagined worlds when reality feels overwhelming. What starts as a longing to relive the past gradually evolves into a self-constructed sanctuary: soft, dream-like, and deceptively serene.

The collection places textile manipulation at the core of its narrative, using material transformation as a metaphor for the psychology of memory and escapism. Textile manipulations like wet felting, distressing and trapunto quilting transform fabric into a sensory landscape of softness, distortion and longing. In Anamnesis, textiles are experiential. They visualise the quiet drift between memory and fantasy, where the past becomes something felt rather than seen clearly.

Hi, I am Jolie Ng. I am drawn to storytelling through my garments, exploring the juxtaposition of themes inspired by mythology, music, life philosophies, my dreams, and my everyday experiences. I enjoy experimenting with textile manipulation to shape emotion into form. For me, fashion translates the intangible into wearable art, a medium to express what is difficult to put into words, to encapsulate a feeling or a fleeting thought. Through my work, I hope to create an introspective experience that invites others to look within.
