This project examines how everyday celebrity admiration can gradually develop into unhealthy parasocial attachment through prolonged exposure on social media. It centres on Yuna, a fictional young woman whose online presence initially appears relatable and harmless, documenting moments of comfort, routine, and emotional connection tied to a celebrity figure.

The experience unfolds through a staged TikTok account, @yuna_정 and a microsite archive, allowing users to observe Yuna’s documented memories across time. Subtle shifts in behaviour, language, and repetition reveal how perceived intimacy and emotional reliance begin to intensify, reflecting patterns commonly normalised within digital fan culture. In collaboration with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), this project invites young adults to reflect on their emotional attachment to celebrities and consider its impact on their mental health.

Hello! I am Elliyanni, a designer who's endlessly curious about how people think and feel. I like noticing the small, everyday behaviours that most people overlook, and turning those observations into narrative-driven design. For me, design isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about asking questions and creating experiences that make people pause and reflect. I enjoy thinking deeply (sometimes too deeply) and using storytelling to explore emotions, culture, and the quiet patterns behind what we do.
