People-pleasing is a socially normalised behavioural pattern in which individuals prioritise others’ expectations over their own needs, often leading to emotional exhaustion, weakened boundaries, and diminished self-agency. Because these behaviours are frequently mistaken for kindness, their long-term psychological impact is often overlooked, highlighting the need for greater awareness and reflection.
Unpruned is proposed as a guided journaling platform that addresses this issue through intentional self-reflection. Using the metaphor of growth and flowers, the app encourages users to explore people-pleasing patterns, reconnect with their values, and develop self-trust over time. Rather than offering prescriptive solutions, Unpruned provides a gentle, structured space for personal insight and sustainable growth.

Hi! I'm Marvela, a designer who believes that design should not just communicate, but clarify. Good design makes complex ideas accessible, invites reflection, and creates space for people to think and feel intentionally. It shapes perception, influences behaviour, and has the power to shift how we see ourselves and the world around us!
