Abandoned furniture has become easy to ignore in HDB estates—chairs, tables, and shelves left behind once they wear out. In a culture where replacing feels easier than caring, furniture is often treated as temporary from the start. Over time, we stop seeing these objects as things we’ve lived with and start seeing them as things meant to be left behind.
More than Furniture responds to this cycle through a two-way approach. It encourages homeowners to extend the life of their furniture by cultivating emotional value, seeing each piece as something shaped by time, use, and story. This connection is supported through accessible, collective ways to rediscover refurbishing and repair as approachable practices.
Not every piece will stay—but for those that do, More than Furniture invites a choice: to rediscover ordinary older furniture. By caring for what remains, we form deeper, more meaningful relationships with the objects we live with—ones that are both fulfilling and sustainable.

Hey there! I'm Wei Qian, an adaptable designer with a love for crafting graphic designs that connect and inspire people to experience them firsthand. I’m interested in designing entry points, ways for people to engage with ideas, culture, or shared practices. I care about intention in what I create. When a piece encourages someone to engage, reflect, or see something from a slightly different perspective, that’s when it feels meaningful to me.
