In a society where people are constantly overworking in a fast-paced environment, taking a simple break is often dismissed. Many individuals feel the need to stay productive at all times, yet they often feel mentally and emotionally unfulfilled. The Break Rooms project explores how overworking has become normalised and how the idea of rest is misunderstood in some parts. Through this series of pop-up rooms, my goal is to show people different ways of 'taking a break', and how they don't have to be so excessive.
Each touchpoint invites participants to pause, reflect, release stress, and engage in activities unrelated to work. By shifting attention away from productivity, the experiences encourage people to reconnect with themselves and rediscover moments of ease.

Hello, I'm May Yati Oo! To me, design is discovering something and making it into a meaningful piece of structure that requires deep consideration & effort, not just aesthetics. It's not just about the end result, but about the process.
