This project examines how unspoken rules within drag are taught, enforced, and ultimately rewritten over time, drawing on drag language, the mainstream of drag culture, pageantry, labour, and lived experience.
This is a design-led publication that reframes drag as a coded, evolving circuit rather than a fixed form of performance influenced by the systems its perceptions are built upon. It's structured as a codex that begins rigid and authoritative, before progressively collapsing as it reveals the tensions between tradition and experimentation, glamour and labour, visibility and support. The Drag Codex dignifies drag culture as contemporary, human, and continually in flux by implicating both performer and audience.

Olá! I'm Djono, a.k.a. DJ, a visual designer and creative who strives to make a difference for fellow marginalised voices and proudly celebrates queer culture. Curiosity kills the cat, but not DJ... I ALWAYS ask questions, try to get the ball rolling, and cannot for the life of me sit still! I always need to find a new challenge, gladly taking on opportunities to create meaningful, attention-grabbing visuals. I hope to help create a better, more inclusive world for all, and I want to be a part of change.
