ACTION

Responsible Consumption and Production

ACTION uses the dying craft of rattan weaving to create spaces that promote responsible consumption and production. By incorporating both tangible and intangible rattan features, each space defines a call to action – be it playing, reflecting, innovating, patronising, or weaving. The space includes a sculptural play area/reception, a farm-to-table restaurant, an exhibition area, and a rattan weaving workshop. The design aims to encourage users to appreciate timelessness and learn sustainable skills.

Su Hazel

I have grown immensely as a designer during my three years in TP, nurturing a style that bridges people and culture. My appreciation for the simpler things in life, coupled with my practice in realism theatre during my CCA - Teatro - have cultivated a special type of empathy that pushes me to study the nuances of everyday people. When translating that skill into my designs, I begin by interpreting my surroundings and asking questions that have no single answer. I believe that as versatile and inventive as design can be, all design is and should be intrinsically and unapologetically human.
