The Barracks Respite is a modular sanctuary designed for the "Sandwiched Generation"—caregivers, balancing elderly parents and young children. Located on a historic aircraft maintenance site, the project subverts the rigid military barracks through Aeronautical Staggering. By offsetting floor plates like bi-plane wings, the design creates Technical Voids that pull natural light and fresh air into a structural chassis. These voids act as acoustic buffers, protecting the interior recovery pods. The result is a high-performance "machine for healing" that uses rhythmic geometry and greenery to reduce sensory overload and provide deep restoration.

I am Nguyen Hoan Vu, an aspiring interior architect professional who views design as more than just aesthetics. I see it as a tool for human recovery. My design philosophy, 'Architecture as Calibration,' is rooted in the belief that our built environment should actively help us find balance in an increasingly chaotic world.
