X SYSTEMS is a modular and adaptable community hub that educates young families about Singapore’s food security while encouraging sustainable habits in everyday life. With over 90% of the nation’s food imported, Singapore faces significant vulnerability within its food system.

The project embeds experiential learning that engages directly with food systems through making, growing and interaction. Its design adopts minimal intervention, using a system of modular insertions to connect and zone spaces. These modules serve as a spatial boundary and social anchors, creating a flexible environment. Constructed from reused plywood frames, the modules express the project’s sustainability ethos through their materiality and exposed joinery. A flexible architectural framework that integrates sustainability while cultivating a resilient and adaptable community space.
