As global temperatures rise, thermal comfort is increasingly reliant on energy-intensive air conditioning that many low-income households cannot afford. Sense. Shade. Cool. reimagines home cooling as a proactive, accessible system centred on awareness, habits, and targeted interventions. An integrated ecosystem — including a heat-sensing ambient light, a PCM-lined thermal window shade, and a compact personal cooling unit — helps users recognise heat risks, adopt passive cooling behaviours, and apply efficient cooling only where needed. Designed for affordability and sustainability, the solution reframes comfort as a lifestyle strategy rather than a luxury appliance, reducing energy use while improving everyday living conditions in urban homes.
