Singapore’s social harmony is sustained not only by laws, but by unspoken social norms practised daily in shared spaces. From returning trays at hawker centres to respecting neighbours in HDB blocks, these small acts collectively uphold social cohesion, yet they are rarely taught explicitly to younger generations.

This project explores how play can cultivate social awareness and shared responsibility. Through two tabletop games—Blockbusters: Life in the Block and Hawker Hustle—everyday Singaporean experiences are gamified, translating unspoken rules into interactive play. By simulating real-life scenarios and cooperative challenges, the games show how individual actions affect the wider community, reinforcing that social harmony is built through empathy and everyday choices.

Hello, I am Rachel, a curious and reflective designer who enjoys exploring ideas beyond a single discipline. My interests span design, storytelling, social behaviour, and everyday experiences, and I am especially drawn to projects that invite people to think, interact, and connect in meaningful ways. I enjoy working across physical, experiential, and conceptual outcomes, using research and observation to guide my decisions. Whether designing objects, systems, or narratives, I value intention, clarity, and play. I am motivated by projects with social impact and believe good design should feel thoughtful, accessible, and quietly memorable.
