Course Overview

Career Conversion Programme for (Train-and Place with commitment to hire) Advanced Biopharmaceuticals Manufacturing Executives/Professionals is a manpower development programme jointly supported by Workforce Singapore (WSG) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP). It aims to build a pipeline of skilled specialists for Singapore’s biopharmaceuticals manufacturing and cell & gene therapy industry in anticipation of future needs through a 3-month structured facilitated training conducted by TP, followed by 15 months of local attachment with top biologics companies.

Funding Support*
: Candidates under the CCP will be supported with course fee funding and training allowances# for the training duration. Candidates will receive a minimum training allowance of $2560 per month.


Bond: Candidates are NOT required to serve bond upon completion of programme.

Entry Requirements

Candidate must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  2. Fulfilled National Service obligation (for Males);
  3. New entrants to biopharmaceutical industry and should not be holding a bond obligation with any organisation
  4. Possess at least a NITEC/Higher NITEC/Diploma/Degree from any disciplines


Candidates will assume different positions that commensurate with their qualification and working experience in the hosting company.


Selection of candidates is at the discretion of the participating companies and participating companies will contact their shortlisted candidates for interview.


Shortlisted candidates are required to undergo and clear medical check-up.


Candidates who are enrolled into programme successfully are to sign a training agreement with TP.

What You'll Learn

During these 3 months in TP, candidates will complete 10 to 12 modules depending on the specialisation.

 

The eight modules are:

Core Subjects

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to follow standard operating procedures and contamination control procedures, report and record abnormalities when carrying out their tasks in a manufacturing or process environment.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills in applying continuous process improvement techniques and be able to put it into practice at their workplaces.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to control the quality of materials and services in a process plant environment. Personnel are required to prepare, to examine and assess quality; monitor and control quality; report on status of quality and perform quality housekeeping.

This module covers the skills and knowledge required by the trainee to be able to accurately identify process occupational health and safety hazards, and assess risk in a process environment, as well as follow instructions and procedures in the plant with minimal supervision.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the knowledge and skills to operate in a clean room environment to initially prepare for work activity, to maintain the clean room environment in operation, and reinstate the clean room environment post operations.

Trainees will get to understand the importance of Analytics, to get hands-on experience to handle data, as well as to create interactive dashboards. This   workshop will also show case the potential and possibilities of doing more with advance business analytics.

This module will introduce trainees to the concept of Process Analytical Technology (PAT). It will cover different types of PAT tools as well as analysis of data and outputs using different techniques.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the knowledge and skills to implement the principles of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) through the application of industry best-practices and international standards.

Elective Modules (Depending on specialisation)

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to setup tangential flow filters as well as perform integrity testing, basic operations on tangential flow filtration equipment. The trainees will also have the basic knowledge and skill to reinstate tangential flow filtration equipment.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to prepare, perform fermenter setup, fermentation medium sterialization, fermentation inoculation, fermentation monitoring and control, cell harvesting, biohazard waste treatment for disposal and fermenter cleaning.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to prepare chromatography equipment for process operation, perform basic chromatography system operations and reinstate chromatography process equipment after operation.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to operate and use flexible facilities in biopharmaceuticals manufacturing. It will cover different types of single-use manufacturing technologies and their purposes.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to setup tangential flow filters as well as perform integrity testing, basic operations on tangential flow filtration equipment. The trainees will also have the basic knowledge and skill to reinstate tangential flow filtration equipment.

This module will introduce trainees to the design of facility layouts for biopharmaceuticals manufacturing plants. It will include the Government and industry regulations for facility designs and Layouts.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to operate and use flexible facilities in biopharmaceuticals manufacturing. It will cover different types of single-use manufacturing technologies and their purposes.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to implement aseptic cell culture techniques to maintain cell cultures in a pure state during production.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to prepare chromatography equipment for process operation, perform basic chromatography system operations and reinstate chromatography process equipment after operation.

This module is designed to equip trainees with the basic knowledge and skills to operate and use flexible facilities in biopharmaceuticals manufacturing. It will cover different types of single-use manufacturing technologies and their purposes.

Note:

Course fees will be reviewed by WSG on an annual basis and adjusted accordingly.

WSG subsidy will not be applicable for students who repeat a module. 

Trainees must achieve a minimum of 75% attendance rating and pass all assessments.
