Course Overview

This subject introduces students to the scope and significance of purpose-driven entities (non-profits, non-governmental, social enterprises and profit-with-a-purpose companies) in the ageing sector. Topics such as volunteer management, client centric values and customer service, effective communication, teamwork, quality management, managing resources, and professional development and self-care will be examined.





Students will be able to:

1. Explain the provision of values-centred services for internal and external customers/clients

2. Identify strategies to recruit, retain and work with volunteers

3. Carry out work in a legal and ethical manner, aligned to respective organization’s values and procedures.

4. Apply resilience techniques to manage workplace challenges.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in Gerontology (Optimal Ageing Practice).
