Course Overview

This subject provides an overview of the logistics activities performed by the chemical industry and cold chain industry. It covers basic knowledge of the international and Singapore regulations that governs the logistical aspects of storing, handling and transport of hazardous chemical products and chilled/frozen products.

 

Topics related to health and safety factors that are associated with the storage, handling and transport of hazardous chemical products and chilled/frozen products will be covered to give a good understanding of the practices in these specialised industry.

 

 

Objectives

 

The subject aims to equip students with knowledge and skills to:

  • Comply with local and international regulations governing the handling, storage and transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Plan the storage of various temperature sensitive products or chemical products by selecting the appropriate infrastructure and equipment with respect to the characteristics of the product.
  • Prepare the shipment of dangerous goods and temperature sensitive product in compliance with international regulations.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.
