Course Overview

This subject provides an overview of analytics and the data lifecycle, including the process of gathering, cleaning, processing and visualising data. Exploratory data analysis methods, descriptive and predictive analytics as well as machine learning applications of industrial / engineering data will also be covered.

 

 

Objectives

 

This subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be able to identify the business needs, gather meaningful data for the purpose of data analytics, prepare a data set and apply data analytics techniques to data sets in order to support data-driven decisions for businesses. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Modes of Assessment

 

The assessment will be based on a combination of coursework components such as written and practical tests, case studies, assignments and projects.

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the following: 

Specialist Diploma in Industrial Informatics

Specialist Diploma in Medical Technology and Informatics

Step 2 - Select UEP - Modular – Specialist Diploma in Industrial Informatics or UEQ - Modular – Specialist Diploma in Medical Technology and course commencement date.

Step 3 - Enter personal, qualification, employment and sponsoring details (if applicable).

Step 4 - Select, rank your preference for the selected subject(s) and indicate the number of subject(s) you wish to take. Please note that the subject start date(s) denotes the semester start date.

Step 5 - Make a declaration and submit the online application.
