Course Overview

This subject covers Internetworking technologies and protocols for enterprise network environments. Concepts in network scalability, scalable routing/switching technologies and protocols are also taught.

 

 

Objectives

 

This subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to configure devices used in an internetworking environment. The subject also aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design and implement scalable enterprise internetworks.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Modes of Assessment

 

100% coursework

 

1. Assignment

The assignment will be used to assess the students’ application of the knowledge and skills of the concepts. The assignment consists of a real-life scenario to assess students’ understanding of the networking concepts. The students are required to submit a report for the assignment.

 

2. Practical Test

The practical test will be used to assess the students’ hand-on skills in application of the theoretical concepts.

 

3. Project

The project will be used to assess the students’ application of the skills in a real-life interconnecting network real-life problem. Students will work in small groups and propose a feasible solution to a given scenario using routing, switching and interconnecting technologies. The students are required to submit a report and present their solutions.

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Infocomm and Digital Media (ICT Systems, Services & Support).
