Course Overview

This subject explores a variety of operational issues which are prerequisite for the support and managing of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) events. The issues include the application of strategies, skills and services related to the organising of MICE events. The subject also integrates management implications such as logistics; risk management; legal documentation; customer experience and general event operations support.

 

 

Objectives

 

The subject aims to equip the students with the skills and knowledge to:

  • Explain the role of MICE-related events in industry; and
  • Implement operational processes to successfully support MICE-related events

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

1. Explain the relevance of the MICE industry to a destination and the economy

2. Distinguish relevant issues and trends affecting the MICE industry, as well as key roles of MICE stakeholders

3. Analyse how MICE event owners and organisers function and operate

4. Explain the MICE event framework

5. Explain the role of the PCO in MICE

6. Plan the response process for submitting bids to manage MICE events

7. Assess the operational and support services sought from PCOs

8. Evaluate revenue strategies for managing MICE events

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in MICE & Events Management.
