Course Overview

This online subject focuses on implementing the project management framework to projects in the tourism industry. This includes aspects of planning activities of a project, designing the work breakdown structure, allocating project resources, implementing and controlling the progress of the project and closing a project.

 

The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) forms the basis for the tasks and outputs of the framework, and the tools and techniques associated with project management including scope, time, human resources, cost, quality, risk and, communications.

 

Objectives

 

The subject aims to equip the students with the skills and knowledge to:

  • Explain the role of project management in the tourism industry
  • Apply effective project management tools and techniques

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in MICE & Events Management.
