Course Overview

This subject provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills in planning and integrating robotics automation system for robot assisted production, and adapting robot to various industrial process control automation applications.

Topics covered includes robotics automation system safety requirement, operation of automated robots & systems which includes connectivity with system interfaces, calibration of robot arms, mechanical alignment, design of end effectors for adaptation, mechanical integration of robot with automation system, design and plan logic controller, robot programming, PLC Logic design, configure human machine interface and industrial networks/fieldbus, integration of machine vision, apply kinematic, optimized robot movement and routes, apply computer control and interface, data & information management, Internet of Things (IoT) and data analysis in robotics automation, remote robot control and monitoring, and installation and commission of robotics automation system.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • Design and develop end effectors for adaptation of various materials handling and processes
  • Apply kinematic, motion and trajectory planning to improve robotic movements
  • Integrate robotic systems with Human Machine Interface (HMI), production units and machine vision system for process control and monitoring, taking into considerations of safety requirements

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.
