Smart devices are all around us today, from remote appliances linked to the Internet, to automated sensors that can read and transmit data remotely. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills for enabling sensors and devices to become smart and connected. You will learn about embedded controllers and ways to acquire data from sensors, as well as enable processing and data reduction in an embedded platform. You will also get to test a smart sensor and device network for a typical industrial application scenario to learn about process optimisation.
Objectives
Students will be able to:
implement protocols to enable data communication for IOT connectivity.
build sensor and actuator networks to enable edge computing, data aggregation and machine to machine communication.
Applicants applying for modular courses which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in Industrial Internet of Things.
