Course Overview

The advertising landscape has evolved beyond mere creative and stylistic execution, thus it is necessary to encompass strategic appropriation of multi-channels, content creation, user interface and experience. This course will expose participants to a wider range of knowledge areas to formulate and execute an effective campaign for an ever-changing economy. It also includes analytical and rational implementation of strategies to engage consumers with different media applications. Techniques on applying conceptual thinking, methodologies, and processes in the creation of an effective integrated advertising campaign will be the mainstay of the course.

 

 

Objectives 

 

The subject aims to equip the students with the skills and knowledge to:
 

  • Conduct research to understand needs of users
  • Identify basic rules of visual information organization and hierarchy
  • Apply user-centered design techniques in the creation of a product, service or system
  • Apply appropriate styles and graphic treatment for the intended audience
  • Create simple sketches to higher-fidelity interactive prototypes
  • Conduct user testing with the use of prototypes

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

What You'll Learn

This subject covers the principles of user-centred design using different methods and processes to develop an understanding of user needs. With this understanding, techniques in the creation of Graphic User Interface (GUI) are introduced to develop an effective, relevant and pleasant digital experience for the user.

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in Integrated Digital Communication.
