Course Overview

This subject covers the knowledge and skills required to design and implement Virtual Desktop Infrastructure project that is secure, scalable, and highly available. Various virtual desktop solutions will be introduced such as Cirtix XenDesktop.

 

 

Objectives

 

The aim of this subject is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design and implement Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) using technologies such as virtualisation and public cloud.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Modes of Assessment

 

100% coursework

 

1. Project

A project will be used to assess the concepts and skills that students have acquired during the workshop sessions. Students are required to write a report to propose a feasible solution to design and implement virtual desktop technology based on a real life scenario. The project will be divided into phases and some practical hours will be allocated for students to work on their proposal. The students are also required to present a project demonstration. 

 

2. Written Test

A written test will be used to assess students’ understanding of the theoretical concepts covered.

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Infocomm and Digital Media (ICT Systems, Services & Support).
