Course Overview

The subject covers concepts and principles of water quality management and the effects of environment and water quality on fish care and health. Topics included will cover techniques for water quality monitoring and means of filtering and treating water in recirculating aquaculture systems.

 

Objectives

 

This subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to perform basic water quality tests relevant to the aquaculture industry, perform key calculations for pumping and piping systems, and explain the various engineering systems used in treating water that are relevant to the aquaculture industry. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Applied Science (Aquaculture).
