Course Overview

The financial advisory industry presents continued opportunities for polytechnic graduates who are keen to develop trust-based relationships to serve clients with financial planning and wealth management needs. 

 

You will learn the techniques to acquire new clients and build client relationships, create sound financial plans to assist clients in reaching their financial goals, explain how the investment products meet clients’ needs and perform data analytics for investment and marketing purposes so as to harness technology in providing financial solutions. 

 

You will also be guided through the relevant regulatory examinations to obtain the certification necessary to initiate a career as a financial consultant.

 

Upon completing the course, graduates should be able to:

 

  • apply regulatory and ethical considerations to the practice of financial planning and marketing financial products;
  • create sound financial plans to assist clients in reaching their financial goals through the process of needs analysis;
  • conceptualise structures of investment schemes; and
  • employ data analytics and other computer-based business intelligence strategies for marketing and investment purposes.

Application/Entry Requirement

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of either graduation OR the Operationally Ready Date (ORD) for National Servicemen from the following full-time programmes.

 

The Sign-on Incentive is only applicable for Singapore Citizens.

Eligibility Criteria for Sign-on Incentive

 

Only for Singapore Citizens who are fresh ITE or Polytechnic graduates hired by Participating Companies and officially commenced the Work-Study Post-Diploma programme within 3 years of graduation or ORD.

What You'll Learn

Upon completion of the Specialist Diploma course, graduates should be able to:

c)  conceptualise structures of investment schemes; and

Participants will be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Financial Advisory Services upon successful completion of the following:

 

  • Post-Diploma Certificate in Marketing & Financial Planning
  • Post-Diploma Certificate in Investment Products & Data Analytics

BCAF011 Marketing & Client Servicing

This subject focuses on the management of interactions with customers so as to attract, retain, and create strong relationships. Participants will also be introduced to ethical and regulatory considerations specifically related to the provision of financial services. The knowledge of investment products and financial planning translates effectively into sales when participants are trained in client acquisition and relationship management.

BCAF010 Financial Planning & Needs Analysis

This subject introduces participants to the process of performing needs analysis through the different phases of an individual’s life cycle so as to identify gaps in the financial plan.

The application of content and skills is consolidated in a case that requires participants to prepare personal financial statements for clients and project the outcomes of the financial plan into the future; including meeting retirement needs.

BCAF009 Investment Products & Development

This subject seeks to provide participants with a framework for analyzing major financial instruments, their basic characteristics and different risk-return profile from an investment perspective.

The application of content and skills is consolidated in a case which simulates a real-life scenario where participants will be required to deconstruct structured investment products into their plain vanilla constituents.

BCAF012 Data Analytics for Investment & Marketing

This subject introduces students to the concepts and techniques of interrogating data to derive useful knowledge and patterns that can help financial institutions gain business insights for decision-making.

Participants will be introduced to concepts and techniques of turning data from various sources into information useful to financial consultants for identifying emerging investment trends and client needs.

Modes of Assessment

 

The assessment would be based on 100% coursework with role play, written tests, case studies, assignments and projects.

Career Opportunities

At the entry level, the job position is a Trainee Financial Consultant1. Upon completing the Programme, graduates can look forward to taking up some of the possible types of positions:

 

  • Financial Consultant
  • Senior Financial Consultant
  • Financial Planning Manager
  • Assistant Relationship Manager (Financial Advisory Services)

 

Graduates may also look forward to wage increment and role expansion in their workplace, subject to their work performance.

Selection of applicants is at the discretion of the participating companies and participating companies will contact their shortlisted applicants for interview. Applicants have the right to reject the interview if they do not wish to be employed by the company who contacted them.

 

Only applicants who are hired successfully and placed on this programme by the participating companies will be invited to submit an online application for the Work-Study Post-Diploma Courses.
