Course Overview

Singapore is well-recognised as an air hub providing one-stop solutions for airlines’ maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) needs. In this 18-month Work-Study Certificate programme, especially designed for fresh polytechnic diploma holders who aspire to pursue a career as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (LAE), you will learn how to perform aircraft maintenance tasks safely and effectively using correct procedures and tools. You will also undergo live aircraft access practical training in performing aircraft technical faults recovery through system-approach troubleshooting techniques. Preparatory examinations are also incorporated to prepare you for modular examinations conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

Eligibility Criteria

 

Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of either graduation OR the Operationally Ready Date (ORD) for National Servicemen from the following full-time programmes.

 

The Sign-on Incentive is only applicable for Singapore Citizens.

Current employees who have graduated or ORD for more than 3 years but within the 5 years from the date of graduation or ORD may be considered for the programme on a case-by-case basis but will not be eligible for any sign-on incentives.

What You'll Learn

Under this programme, there are 2 different areas of training to cater to the participating aerospace companies’ expertise. Participants will be placed in either one of the following tracks, depending on their hiring aerospace companies’ expertise.

 

1. SAR-66 B1.1 Aircraft Maintenance Licence Training (AMLT)

 

In this course, participants will be taught the CAAS-approved training for SAR-66 B1.1 Aircraft Maintenance Licence basic knowledge and hands-on practical skills.

 

B1.1 AMLT 1

SAR-66 Modules – 194 days / 1,358 hours

B1.1 AMLT 2

SAR-66 Modules – 150 days / 1,050 hours

  • M07: Perform Aerospace Maintenance Practices (Advanced) - B1
  • M08: Apply Principles of Aerodynamics (Advanced)
  • M09: Apply Human Factors Principles
  • M10: Apply Principles of Aviation Legislation
  • M11a: Apply Principles Of Turbine Aeroplane Aerodynamics, Structures And Systems (Advanced)
  • M15: Apply Principles of Gas Turbine Engine (Basic)
  • M17: Maintain Aeroplane Propeller (Advanced)

Examination

 

Practical assessments (where applicable) and end-of-the-course preparatory written exams will be held. The minimum passing mark is 75.

 

Upon successful completion of B1.1 AMLT 1, participants will receive the CAAS-recognised Certificate of Recognition (CoR) which allows the participant to enrol into B1.1 AMLT 2 conducted by Temasek Polytechnic.

 

Upon successful completion B1.1 AMLT 2, participants may combine the CoR and Schedule of Experience (SoE) to apply for the Aircraft Maintenance Licence within the next 2 to 2.5 years.

 

 

2. SAR-66 B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence Training (AMLT)

 

In this course, participants will be taught the CAAS-approved training for SAR-66 B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence basic knowledge and hands-on practical skills.

 

B2 AMLT 1

SAR-66 Modules – 192 days / 1,344 hours

B2 AMLT 2

SAR-66 Modules – 152 days / 1,064 hours

Career Opportunities

The entry level job position is Licensed Aircraft Engineer (Trainee)¹. Upon completing the programme, graduates may look forward to wage increment and role expansion in their workplace, subject to their work performance.

Selection of applicants is at the discretion of the participating companies and participating companies will contact their shortlisted applicants for interview. Applicants have the right to reject the interview if they do not wish to be employed by the company who contacted them.

 

Only applicants who are successfully hired and placed on the Work-Study Certificate programme by the participating companies will be invited to submit an online application for the courses.

Course fees will be sponsored by participating companies should candidates be placed under the Work-Study Certificate programme.
