Course Overview
The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to take up more complex job roles to handle technological transformations in the manufacturing industry. Participants will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to be part of the digital transformation happening in the manufacturing industry.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
Who Should Attend
The intended target audience is non-diploma working professional who is currently working in or aspiring to join the Engineering, Logistics, Precision Engineering, Aerospace Manufacturing and Electronics Manufacturing sector. This course will impart participants with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional skillsets for end-to-end solutions demanded in the advanced manufacturing landscape.
What You'll Learn
To be awarded the Diploma in Engineering (Digital Manufacturing), participants are required to complete a total of 5 modular certificates (MCs). A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each MC.
Modular Certificate in Supply Chain & Logistics IT
This certificate provides an overview of the supply chain management and logistics IT in the manufacturing industry. Graduates from this modular certification will not only gain the skills of logistics operations but will be able to understand and have first-hand experience to the various advanced technology solutions in the evolving logistics field.
Modular Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing System
This certificate provides learners with hands-on understanding of the various technology enablers to the advanced manufacturing systems in the industry. Learners will have the first hand understanding and experience to various smart manufacturing systems solutions. They will also cover in greater depth on areas relating to CAD (Computer Aided Design) and additive manufacturing as well as robotics and automation solutions.

This subject introduces the core elements of a smart manufacturing system where real-time manufacturing data enables flexibility and increase productivity. An introduction to advanced manufacturing and key enabling technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems, Manufacturing Executions Systems (MES) and Augmented Reality (AR) are used to lay the foundation for understanding the application and benefits of smart manufacturing. |

ECME101 | CAD & Additive Manufacturing
Additive Manufacturing, also commonly known as 3D Printing, is becoming an important manufacturing technique in advanced manufacturing that complements existing manufacturing processes.
In this subject, the main topics covered include principles and development of Additive Manufacturing, design guidelines for Additive Manufacturing (ISO/ASTM 52911-2), design of support structures, generalized process chain, process selection guidelines, pre-processing software, post-processing methods and laser-based powder bed. |

ECMF102 | Robotics & Automation
This subject covers factory automation systems that are the foundation for advanced manufacturing systems. It provides the essential concepts and background on industrial automation, robotics and their applications, as well as their integration into a complete manufacturing system. You will also learn the working principles and applications of automation equipment and how to automate production processes to achieve quality and high productivity. Both hardware and software links between the main factory automation components are introduced. |
Modular Certificate in Industrial Connectivity
This certificate exposes learners to modern industrial networking and gives them the opportunity to understand industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) which is increasingly leveraged by manufacturers for digital transformation. IoT offers new opportunities for connecting various manufacturing operations and transforms business processes. Learners will have practical skill-based learning on setting up Industrial IoT control systems to creating simple applications to make automation equipment smart for the manufacturing sector.

Four main topics are covered; namely pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, programmable logic controllers and an introduction to advanced manufacturing. Essential knowledge of the working principles and applications of automation equipment are covered, followed by an overview of how to automate production processes to achieve quality and high productivity. You will also be introduced to the concept of smart automation and the key concepts of advanced manufacturing. |

This subject covers the technical skillsets required for applying machine learning algorithms and deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) models onto edge computing devices. It provides the essential concepts and background on data analytics, supervised and unsupervised machine learning models, the process of optimization and their applications in advanced manufacturing. |

ECCC102 | Industrial IoT Analytics
This subject provides the essential concepts and skills needed for implementing digital transformation in smart manufacturing plants. It covers the application of industrial software platforms to wirelessly interconnect sensors, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and equipment. The students will learn to develop dashboard for acquiring, analyzing and displaying data that is commonly found in Advanced Manufacturing. Modern approaches in activation of hardware and software responses when interventions are required for process improvement or corrective actions are also covered in detail. |
Modular Certificate in Analytics & Application Development
This certificate offers learners the fundamental understanding to working with data, one of the main drivers for digital manufacturing. Learners have the opportunity to work with data and create web applications. Learners also cover subject regarding security for internet-enabled devices that connect to each other on wireless networks.

This subject introduces the security and privacy issues involved in the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services. Topics covered include cryptography, capability, access-control mechanisms, authentication models and privacy support through data abstraction, integration and data synchronisation. |
Modular Certificate in Design Thinking
This certificate teaches the design-thinking framework and guides learners through practical projects to practise the design thinking tools to generate multiple possibilities and humanised solutions for products, services and business innovation.
