Course Overview

This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to operate and manage enterprise-level Information Technology (IT) service centres, data centres, operations centres and networking centres in the area of cloud computing. You will also learn to use platforms such as Amazon Web Services and acquire the skills to apply IT service management methodology in a shared data centre.


The course objectives are as follows:


  • Design and implement cloud architecture;
  • Analyse various cloud environments;
  • Manage a shared services data centre environment;
  • Execute data centre management projects.

Application/Entry Requirement

At least a Polytechnic Diploma or ITE Technical Diploma/Technical Engineer Diploma/Work-Learn Technical Diploma  in a technology or IT-related course, or equivalent.


Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

Who Should Attend

The intended target is working professionals from the information and communications technology industry who possess at least a Polytechnic diploma in IT or equivalent and 1 year working experience.

What You'll Learn

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma, participants are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs). A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each PDC.

CNC1C01 Introduction to Cloud Architecture

This subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design and implement cloud architecture. It covers networking structure, technologies and protocols for an enterprise cloud network environment. Concepts in network scalability, routing / switching technologies and protocols will also be covered in this subject.

CNC1C02 Design and Development of Cloud Solutions

This subject covers the design and development of cloud solutions by analysing the various cloud environments. Students will learn about server sprawl, shared storage, data replication and virtual desktop solutions.

CDC1C01 Shared Services and Management

This subject equips students with the skills to manage a shared services data centre. It covers shared services data centre management skillsets such as assessment of appropriateness of shared services, service level management, problem management, change management, business resumption provision and establishment of a management metrics system.

CDC1C02 Data Centre Management Project

This subject aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the course to a project. The project will require students to implement data centre infrastructure and service management software. Students would be required to work in teams, present and demonstrate their solutions and products related to shared services data centre management.

Course fees will be reviewed by MOE on an annual basis and adjusted accordingly.
