Digital Service Automation is enabling us to provide more efficient services, better customer engagement and enhanced client and work experience. Digital Service Automation refers broadly to a series of human actions that are automated by the use of technologies. In this course, you will learn how to create error-free workflows to speed up your IT requests, automate routine tasks and coordinate workflows to bring your tasks to the Cloud. If you are a system administrator, IT support executive or IT manager, this course will help you enhance the efficiency of your work by employing innovative service delivery automation solutions.
The minimum admission requirement is at least a Polytechnic Diploma, ITE Technical Diploma/Technical Engineer Diploma/Work-Learn Technical Diploma in a technology-related course.
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
This course is designed for IT professionals in the area of Telecommunication, DevOps, Cloud Computing, IT Service Management, System Integration and Technology Consultation who are interested in the implementation of service automation and processes. You’ll gain insights into the technologies underpinning RPA, Cloud, and service orchestration, helping you to get up to speed in implementing such solution in your work.
To be awarded the Specialist Diploma, participants are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs). A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each PDC.
Post-Diploma Certificate in Cloud and Automation Technologies
The growing local cloud technology and automation industry requires staff who are professionally trained. The Certificate in Cloud and Automation provides students with an overview of cloud computing concepts and the core services of a cloud platform, including their common use cases. It will also provide a detailed overview to adopt a structural approach to deliver software automation models.
This subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design and implement cloud architecture. It covers networking structure, technologies and protocols for an enterprise cloud network environment. Concepts in network scalability, routing / switching technologies and protocols will also be covered in this subject.
|CSA1C02||IT Infrastructure Automation
This subject covers the concept and techniques to adopt a structural approach to deliver software automation models across the complete life cycle. Topics covered include the provisioning, configuration management, application deployment and security compliance. The subject also covers scripting language that is essential for workflow automation.
|CSA1C03||Cloud & Automation Project
In this subject, students will use the knowledge and skills acquired on cloud technology and IT infrastructure automation to work on a project based on real use cases provided by Industry. The project will help students to conceptualise and deepen their skills in automating the configuration and deployment of resources in a cloud environment.
|CSA1C04||IT Service Orchestration
This subject equips students with an essential understanding and skills to organise, sequence and manage workflow activities and scripts across multiple functional pockets of IT service automation to help visual, control and simply the delivery of IT services. Orchestration tools such as ServiceNow will integrate with other applications or services such as Resolve to automate a process, or synchronize data in real-time.
|CSA1C05||Robotic Process Automation
This subject covers the concepts and techniques of Enterprise Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and its technology enabled by context-aware robots. Topics covered include RPA concepts, end-to-end automation using RPA tools such as UiPath, software robots, and no or low code development.
|CSA1C06||Service & Process Automation Project
This subject leverages on the knowledge and skills students have acquired in IT service orchestration and robotic process automation to work on a project based on real use cases provided by Industry. The project will help students conceptualise and deepen their skills in integration required for IT Service Orchestration and RPA for service automation.
Modes of Assessment
All subjects are skills-based. Assessment is by coursework with no examinations. Candidates will be assessed using the following methods:
- Written Tests and/or Quizzes
The course employs both formative and summative assessments for its students to demonstrate their learning, in terms of knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes. Each subject will be assessed through continuous assessment (coursework). Different weightages are accorded to each of the assessment components depending on the content of the modules and the skills assessed.
Graduates of the course can contribute to job roles such as Enterprise Architect, Platform Engineer, Cloud Architect and Solution Integration Architect with business process re-engineering technical skills and competency. They can also assume emerging job roles as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer, Software Developer (Automation), Development and Operations (Devops) Specialist.
