With the rising importance of Fintech in banking and with Singapore poised as a regional Fintech hub, this course helps to train people from non-financial domains who want to deepen their skills in the area of financial technologies and innovations. With full digital banks coming onboard in 2020, there will be an increased demand for these skill sets in the banking sector. In this course you will learn to apply financial services knowledge and processes to new Fintech business models, implement open banking APIs techniques and algorithms, and apply block chain concepts and modelling techniques to build new Smart Contracts.
Upon completing this course, graduates will be able to undertake the following responsibilities:
apply financial services knowledge and processes to new Fintech business models;
develop a financial analytics project using business intelligence techniques;
implement open banking APIs techniques and algorithms;
apply blockchain concepts and modelling techniques to build new Smart Contracts.
The minimum entry requirement is at least a Polytechnic Diploma or ITE Technical Diploma/Technical Engineer Diploma/Work-Learn Technical Diploma in a technology or IT-related course, or equivalent.
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants
|CFT1C01||Fintech & Financial Services
This subject introduces students to core financial services, banking and new Fintech business models. Students will also learn and compare the current financial processes to new Fintech business models and evaluate their strategic, operational and regulatory requirements based on Singapore’s regulatory policies. We will also explore the key success factors for Fintech solutions, using the Design Thinking approach.

This subject enables students to develop a financial analytics project using business intelligence techniques and tools. In this topic, we will also explore the different types of financial instruments and look into different aspects of portfolio management.
|CFT1C03||Open Banking APIs Development
This module will introduce students with the Object Oriented concepts before moving on the skills required to develop a web application using web application programming interfaces (APIs). Students will be introduced to an integrated development environment that will enable them to design and develop web applications and web API over the Internet. They will learn how to make use of web development technologies such as ASP.NET framework, jQuery for rich internet applications, data interchange formats such as JSON. The use of APIs is aligned with the open architecture economy. Students will get to use APIs from financial industry among others. This module aims to provide students with a good understanding of the web development architecture and service layer as well as the various issues related to Web Application Development.
|CFT1C04||Blockchain and Smart Contracts Development
This module will introduce students to block chain concepts and how these are being applied using industry use cases. Students will also have hands on experience to create transactions on a block chain to better understand the underlying concepts. Students will get a chance to develop their own block chain prototype which includes defining the assets, transactions and participants. They will have the opportunity to build their own Smart Contracts to be executed on this block chain.
