Course Overview

The demand for Cybersecurity professionals has surged in recent years. Governments, corporations, and multinational organizations are seeking and recruiting experienced Ethical Hackers to help identify vulnerabilities and secure their systems. Learners enrolled in the Red Team Specialist program explore the hacker's state of mind through in-depth study of cutting-edge technologies and frameworks required to protect organizations from future threats.

Entry Requirements

  • Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents, aged 21 & above
  • At least a Polytechnic diploma in an IT-related course, or equivalent
  • Holders of other equivalent academic qualifications from foreign institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will go through a 20 hour sorting programme (on 8-12 Nov 2021, 10am-2pm) to prepare them for the entrance test (at the end of the sorting programme). Only applicants who passed the entrance test will be offered admission into the training programme. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

Who Should Attend

  • Singapore Citizens / PRs aged 21 and above
  • Individuals who are able to commit to the training programme on a full-time basis


In addition, the target trainees for SGUS programmes will exclude the following:

a) Graduated or graduating in Calendar Year (CY) 2019 / 2020 / 2021 from ITE, Polytechnics, Universities, and other educational institutions. This includes graduates from private universities as well as overseas institutions; and

b) Graduated from the educational institutions mentioned in (a) and completed or completing their National Service (NS) in CY 2019 / 2020 / 2021 and are entering the labour force.

Red Team Fundamentals

This module provides the fundamental skill set cybersecurity students need to tackle for advanced Red Teaming material and concepts.

Linux Fundamentals

This module provides the fundamentals of the Linux OS, learn to manage and navigate files, manage packages and services, create scripts using Bash, and learn how to configure various OS settings.

Windows Server 2016

This module provides the fundamentals of the Windows Server 2016 OS, upon which countless companies rely on to manage their organization's computers worldwide.

Bypassing the Perimeter

This module provides the necessary knowledge and experience regarding infrastructures, with a focus on bypassing protection systems to obtain customer data via escalation, system permissions, and more.

Security Incident Event Management (SIEM) & Security Operations Center (SOC)

This module provides the necessary knowledge and experience regarding the information security monitoring center is, which systems are used, and how real-time attacks can be identified and dealt with.

Cross-Platform Elevation of Privilege Escalation

This module provides hands-on training and teaches ways to enhance privileges in a system. An attacker who is able to breach the security of a device or application to obtain administrator-level access will still need to overcome additional security configurations, which are explained in this module.

Advanced Infrastructure Attacks

This module provides the necessary hands-on practice regarding the organizational environment and common attack methodologies while explaining how to take control of the entire organization and host computers.

Python for Hacking

This module provides hands-on practice in Python scripting, which learners can work with to automate security tasks and create security-related scripts that can overcome safety measures.

Web Fundamentals + Web Application Penetration Testing

This module covers one of the most in-demand skills of cybersecurity. It provides hands-on knowledge in web application security and teaches various ways to leverage bugs found in an application.

The topics include:

1. Hands-on training to find a range of vulnerabilities from basic to advanced.

2. Exploiting the vulnerabilities in a web application.

3. Basic web development for learners to how web applications operate.

4. Hands-on training to exploit the most recently revealed vulnerabilities.

5. Hands-on experience with scanners and tools.

6. Hands-on training with various open-source applications that are deliberately vulnerable.

7. Solving real-time challenges.

Mobile Security

This module provides the necessary knowledge and experience regarding the common vulnerabilities and security-related shortcomings in iOS and Android applications. This module will teach you on setting up a lab for mobile application pentest and will guide you on step by step process of performing static and dynamic analysis of iOS and Android applications. This module will start with the structure of iOS and Android operating systems, the security model and dig deep into reverse engineering, traffic analysis, and code analysis techniques.

Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) Preparation

This module prepares you for the various practical exam certifications such as OSCP* with immersive simulation labs and in-depth instruction on various attack methods for applications, infrastructures, and human engineering.

Industry Project

This programme involves project-based learning, where you are required to work on projects, related to your course of study. You are expected to undertake various activities discussed with and assigned by the supervisors. The programme enables you to apply knowledge and skills acquired in the course of your study to address practical problems in the real workplace.

* Certification exams are not conducted as part of the Up-Skill in Cybersecurity program and require additional costs not included in tuition. While the curriculum provides the knowledge needed to perform well on industry exams, the Up-Skill in Cybersecurity is not a test-preparation program, where the primary focus is the learner’s performance on the exam. The Up-Skill in Cybersecurity program is designed to teach in-demand knowledge for today's workforce.

Please take note of the following requirements in order to be eligible for the subsidy:


1) Trainees must fulfil minimum attendance requirements and pass assessments to qualify for course fee subsidies. Trainees who are unable to meet these requirements may be asked to return the course fee subsidies that they have received.


2) The programme allows trainees to exit without penalty if they are successfully placed into a job or have secured a job on their own accord while undergoing training. However, trainees who exit the programme without a valid reason may be asked to return the course fee subsidy that they have received.


Temasek Polytechnic reserves the right to alter the course, modify the scale of fee, amend any other information or cancel course with low enrolment.
