Course Overview

What happens if terabytes or even petabytes of new data are being generated daily? With the advent of the internet of things and social media, this has become a reality. Big data refers to large and complex data that are ever growing, so much so that traditional storage and software used for data processing are no longer able to handle. This means that a new set of tools, software and architecture is needed to process and analyse such big data.

This course covers the knowledge and skills needed to use and manage big data and to perform big data analytics using big data programming. Several concepts and techniques, like handling different data structures and analyzing them, will be introduced. There is guided programming and participants will learn to acquire, store and process data using big data architecture.

Participants should have basic IT and programming knowledge.
