Course Overview

Jump-Start E-Commerce for your Business is a new approach to personalized learning, catering to small business owners seeking to take their brick-and-mortar business online. This 24-hour programme is a combination of 16-hours of instructions and 8-hours of project implementation. By the end of the programme, you will be ready to launch your e-commerce operations to begin selling online. 


This programme will be conducted in 2 phases:


Instructional Phase (16 hours)

Using your own business, you will set up an e-commerce store and the channels for marketing your products via social media under the instructor's guidance.


Project Implementation Phase (8 hours)

During the project implementation phase, you will continue to develop your e-commerce operation with a view to go live. The instructor will facilitate your project through 8 hours of online and face-to-face consultation.








At the end of the course, participants will be able to jump-start a basic e-commerce implementation for their retail organization consisting of:


  • A standalone e-commerce storefront and a seller’s account on one or more popular e-Marketplaces with an initial batch of products for sale
  • The knowledge to operate an e-commerce storefront from putting up products for sale to delivery
  • A Facebook Business page and an Ad account
  • The knowledge to develop content and promote products via social media and the ability to execute a social media advertisement campaign

Entry Requirements

Participants must be able to understand and communicate in English as training and assessment are conducted in English.

What You'll Learn

E-Commence for Retailers

The participant will configure an online storefront to:

  • Allow user registration
  • Browse items for sale
  • Checkout items in a shopping cart
  • Accept multiple forms of payments
  • Allow purchase through an e-commerce marketplace
  • Process and ship orders


Social Media & E-Commerce Content Creation

Participants will be introduced to cloud-based software tools to create graphics, presentations, posters, and short videos to post on social media to market their products and services.


Participants will also learn how to use their mobile phone and a lightbox to take product photos to be used in their E-Commerce catalogue and social media pages.


Digital Marketing for Retailers

Participants will walk through the steps in marketing their item via social media channels – Facebook and Instagram. Participants learn digital marketing and user engagement strategies to drive interest in the item they are selling.


Participants will learn to use analytics tools to monitor their products' interest level and launch social media advertisement campaigns.


Project Consultation

Participants will implement what they have learnt in online payment, e-commerce and digital marketing using a range of products from their store over a period of 10 workdays with a view to go-live.


During this time, they will approach the instructor for guidance via face-to-face and virtual meetings. The actual amount of time that a participant will interact with the instructor is 8 hours.





Participants will be issued with a Certificate of Performance upon meeting 75% of the required course attendance and passed the assessments.

Please note that participants should achieve at least 75% of attendance and sit for the assessment at the end of the course. Participants who fail to meet the requirements will be withdrawn from their funding eligibility and participant/company sponsor will be requested to make payment for the difference in the course fee, which is the funded amount.
