Congratulations to Charlotte Gayondato Yap from the Diploma in Pharmaceutical science for being awarded the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science 2019! She is also awarded the Diploma Course Gold Medal for being the best performing student in the graduating 2019 cohort and the Temasek Polytechnic School of Applied Science Scholarship.
Throughout the three years in TP, Charlotte has remained committed in exceling in her academic performance and developing herself holistically. She will be graduating with a perfect cGPA of 4.0 with a total of 16 distinctions. Charlotte has been placed on the Director's list every academic year due to her excellent academic results. Charlotte will also be graduating with a Diploma Plus in Business Fundamentals. Charlotte’s technical competency is evident through her participation in the WorldSkills Singapore competition. In her final year, Charlotte was selected to represent Temasek Polytechnic in the WorldSkills Singapore Competition in Chemical Laboratory Technology, where she obtained a Medallion of Excellence. Despite learning some of the skills for the first time, Charlotte was able to understand and master the skills, reflecting her great learning capability and competency.
Driven by her strong desire to contribute to the community, Charlotte joined the Temasek Polytechnic Community Service Club where she held the appointment of the Club's President for the academic year AY18/19. She helped organize numerous community projects such as the Hair for Hope 2018 @ TP, Hair For Hope @ TP Shavees Recruitment Drive 2018, YEAH Mentoring Programme in September 2018 and 3M Step-Up Challenge 2017. Her involvement and contribution in student leadership and community engagement projects reflected her community-mindedness and showed that she is a highly driven, competent, hardworking person. Driven by her interest to apply what she learnt in her diploma course and contribute to the community, Charlotte organized the Diploma Outreach Project “TP Pharmacy Week: Fight Antimicrobial Resistance” in collaboration with the Health Promotion Board, with the aim to educate the TP community on antibiotic resistance and its prevention. For her contribution to her CCA group, Charlotte was awarded the TP CCA Merit Award (Leadership) in 2017 and 2018. The school of Applied Science is very proud to have Charlotte as a students, we wish her well in her journey ahead!
