School of Applied Science students have bagged both the Best Display Award and 2nd Runner-up in the “Senior” category at the 13th NUS Crystal Growing Challenge 2018. This competition, organized by NUS, was held on 26 May 2018. A total of 109 teams representing 47 institutes from various secondary schools, Junior Colleges, ITE and polytechnics participated in this competition across 3 categories (Junior, Senior and Open).
The Best Display winners are Pharmaceutical Science students Wilson Chan Weisheng and Lim Ke Xuan Jelane.
Chemical Engineering students Chireni Thirumaran and Lee Pin Shyan took the 2nd Runner up Award.
The NUS Crystal Growing Challenge is a biennial event for secondary schools, junior colleges and polytechnic students. During the crystal growing process, the students learn about the chemical processes behind the crystallisation and the science and art behind the marvellous crystals that we encounter on a daily basis.
