In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of electronics used in an aircraft (avionics), such as aircraft communication systems, navigation systems, flight control systems, as well as in-cabin electronics such as entertainment systems, lighting and sound systems.
You will also undergo six months of intensive practical training, tailored specially for the aerospace industry, at our TP-LTT Aerospace Training Centre. Selected students will also have the opportunity to undergo attachments in universities and aerospace companies in Singapore and abroad.
This diploma course will also prepare you for the Basic Knowledge Examination (Category B2 – "Avionics") conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) under the Singapore Airworthiness Requirements Part 66 (SAR-66) Aircraft Maintenance Licensing requirements. If you pass these exams during your 3 years in TP, you will get direct credits and hence your subsequent Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) apprenticeship duration after getting your diploma, will be significantly shortened, thereby allowing you to become a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (LAE) up to 10 months sooner than those with an Aerospace diploma from other local polytechnics (which do not have this arrangement).

Temasek Polytechnic’s Diploma in Aerospace Electronics course is unique in that it offers world class aerospace training with wide global recognition. It has the following advantages:
Holders of the Diploma in Aerospace Electronics will have excellent career prospects in the fast expanding aerospace and aviation sectors, as:
Yes, as a pilot you will need to know and understand the workings of the avionic systems onboard an aircraft. Graduates of this course will have an advantage over others as he/she would have learn about and know the functions of the various communication, navigation and flight control systems onboard an aircraft.
In addition, we also have a flying option for our students during their final semester. Jointly conducted with the Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC), it will lead to a Private Pilot License (PPL). Thus students who are bitten by the flying bug can graduate with a PPL on top of their diploma.

Competition for entry into the Diploma in Aerospace Electronics course (JAE code: T50) had been very keen each year. Selection will be based on your Singapore GCE ‘O’ level results. If you are very keen on joining our Aerospace Electronics programme, a wise strategy would be for you to select T50 as your first choice during the JAE, and then put T05/T56 as your 2nd/3rd choices.
Through the EEEP/CEP programme (T05/T56), you may be able to switch over to the Diploma in Aerospace Electronics course after one semester. This is a new special scheme that is not offered by any other polytechnic in Singapore.
