On 27 Jun 2019, Temasek Polytechnic signed a MOU with NVIDIA to collaborate in the area of AI. The MOU was signed by the Director of Temasek Polytechnic’s School of Informatics & IT, Dr Eng Pin Kwang, and Mr Marc Hamilton, VP, Solutions Architecture and Engineering, NVIDIA.

As part of this collaboration, the TP-NVIDIA AI Technology Centre (TP-NVAITC) will be established at Temasek Polytechnic to showcase, explore and test AI technologies and solutions. It will also support the development of staff and student capabilities in AI. In addition, the Centre will provide a platform for industry collaboration, applied R&D projects and training. This is the only Centre of its kind that NVIDIA has established at a polytechnic in Singapore.

NVIDIA will engage TP students as apprentices and interns to work on projects. Also, NVIDIA will conduct deep learning workshops for TP staff and students through its Deep Learning Institute (DLI).

NVIDIA’s (NASDAQ: NVDA) invention of the GPU in 1999 sparked the growth of the PC gaming market, redefined modern computer graphics and revolutionised parallel computing. More recently, GPU deep learning ignited modern AI — the next era of computing — with the GPU acting as the brain of computers, robots and self-driving cars that can perceive and understand the world.
