Temasek Polytechnic Security Industry Institute (TP-SII) Launches First-Ever Skills for Security Competition in Asia

Singapore, [03 Nov 2025] - To meet the demands of a rapidly digitalising security landscape, Temasek Polytechnic Security Industry Institute (TP-SII) is driving the upskilling of security professionals and advancing workforce transformation. In its continued efforts to strengthen industry capabilities, TP-SII hosted the first-ever Skills for Security Competition Asia on 12 November 2025, in partnership with Skills for Security, the leading fire and security training provider in United Kingdom.

The competition was held as part of the inaugural edition of The Security Event Asia (TSEA) 2025, held in Singapore from 11 to 13 November 2025. TSEA 2025 gathered the security community to explore emerging technologies and industry transformation. This comes at a pivotal moment, as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and integrated systems are transforming security operations across Asia. In Singapore, the 49,000-strong security workforce and 270 private security agencies are adapting to an accelerated pace of digitalisation, highlighting the urgent need for new skills and stronger industry-wide collaboration.

TP is proud to be one of TSEA’s founding partners and host of the Security Industry Conference and the Skills for Security Competition Asia as part of TSEA 2025.

First-ever Skills for Security Competition Asia

Debuting at TSEA 2025, the competition brought together security technicians from leading industry players, including Prosegur Singapore and Chubb Fire & Security Singapore, who raced against time to tackle complex security systems installation challenges.

They competed at dedicated booths, putting their technical expertise, problem- solving skills, and precision to the test. The initiative underscored TP-SII’s commitment to equip security professionals with advanced technical and digital skills required, to thrive in an era shaped by artificial intelligence and integrated systems.

Immersive Pavilion Showcases Next-Generation Security Training

Alongside the competition, TP-SII also presented a 36-square-metre immersive pavilion, showcasing the future of security education and emergency response training. Developed in collaboration with Apollo Global Academy, AETOS Holdings, and TP’s Aviation Research Centre, the pavilion offered hands-on experiences with mixed reality simulations, robotics, and drone-based monitoring.

Participants explored how next-generation technologies such as AI-assisted surveillance, autonomous patrol systems, and mixed reality command training are redefining the skills and capabilities required in modern security operations. This showcase reflected TP- SII’s emphasis on experiential learning and its dedication to bridging the skills gap in a fast- evolving industry.

Strengthening Industry Collaboration and Workforce Development

To further enhance professional development opportunities, TP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Security Solutions Association of Singapore (SSAS) during the event. This partnership will provide learners with real-world exposure through site visits to security integrators and introduce an Industrial Experience module as part of the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) for Security Systems Technicians.

These initiatives align training with industry standards and ensure that professionals gain relevant, hands-on experience that supports long-term employability and career growth in the security sector.
