School of Business

Are you intrigued by how AI, sustainability, and digital transformation are redefining the business world? Consider Netflix, a brand that started as a DVD rental service and has transformed into a global entertainment powerhouse. By harnessing AI to personalise recommendations for over 260 million users worldwide, investing in original content to stay ahead of competitors, and committing to reducing emissions by nearly half by 2030, Netflix shows how businesses can innovate, captivate audiences, and embrace sustainability all at once.

Your journey to discover how such business strategies and innovations come to life begins here at the School of Business (BUS).

At BUS, we empower you to shape your future with purpose. Choose from eight dynamic full-time diploma courses spanning Accountancy & Finance, Business, Media, Culinary Arts & Management, Hospitality, Law, Logistics, and Marketing - each designed to align with your passions and aspirations. For those still exploring, our one-year Common Business Programme with ‘taster modules’ offers a guided experience to help you make a confident choice.

Our curriculum emphasises practical mastery and core business disciplines, developing you into a collaborative problem-solver, clear communicator, innovative thinker, and agile professional ready for today’s fast-paced environments.

Beyond textbooks, learning comes alive through industry-led projects and overseas experiential journeys, where you’ll partner with businesses to co-create solutions and tackle real-world challenges.

Success in the digital economy requires more than knowing how to use AI, it demands the ability to harness it strategically. We nurture learners who generate creative insights, not just replicate machine outputs.

What this means for you at BUS:

• A future-ready education: Blend business fundamentals with AI and digital fluency, building judgment and creativity.

• Real-world engagement: Work with mentors and industry to solve real-world business challenges.

• Human-centred learning: Guided by dedicated educators who foster critical thinking.

• Access to a dynamic landscape: Tap into booming digital sectors hungry for talent, ready for graduates like you.

Your three-year journey at BUS will sharpen your innovation, entrepreneurial instincts, digital fluency, and eco-conscious mindset—preparing you to thrive in a globalised, rapidly evolving marketplace.

Exposure/Opportunities

School of Business is a place where we embark our students on a journey to hone their domain skill sets through programmes, partnerships and projects across industries.

Personalised Learning in Sustainability

The School’s sustainability elective subjects equip students with essential skills for a rapidly growing global field. Through electives such as Foundations of Carbon Footprint & Sustainability Reporting, ESG Practices for Businesses, and Sustainability Communication & Stakeholder Engagement, students can deepen their sustainability expertise through a personalised learning pathway. Completion of these electives leads to a Skills Certificate in Sustainability, preparing graduates to drive positive impact and support a more sustainable future.

Collaborations with Industry Partners

The School maintains strong industry connections and continues to build meaningful partnerships to keep our curriculum current and relevant. Industry collaborations are embedded within our programmes, providing students with exposure to real-world practices and industry insights.

Our partners include Google, Far East Hospitality, Singapore Academy of Law, Swisslog, PwC, Les Amis Group, Mediacorp, Singapore Retailers Association, Changi Airport Group, SGTech, and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, among others.

Business Mentorship Network (BMN)

Initiated by the School, the Business Mentorship Network (BMN) connects students with entrepreneurs, industry partners, and alumni through a structured mentoring community. The network provides guidance, support, and valuable opportunities for students to develop their skills, expand their professional networks, and grow personally and professionally.

BMN partners include KPMG, CBRE, DBS, State Courts, TikTok, Raffles Hotel, and GE Singapore.

Overseas Exposure

Students are encouraged to broaden their horizons through overseas study trips, internships, immersion programmes, and community initiatives. These experiences provide valuable cross-cultural exposure, helping students develop a global mindset and adapt confidently to diverse international environments.

Further Education Pathways

UPP Fast-Track

The University Pathway Programme (UPP) offers eligible Year 3 students from the TP School of Business a head start on their university journey. Participants can take up to two undergraduate modules at Nanyang Technological University (Nanyang Business School) or Singapore Management University (School of Accountancy). This allows students to gain early exposure to university life and earn credits that are recognised by the respective degree programmes. After graduating from TP, students proceed to apply for admission to these universities to complete their undergraduate studies.

For those looking to expand their horizons internationally, TP School of Business has a dedicated partnership with Jeonju University in South Korea. This pathway enables our graduates to shorten the duration of their degree while experiencing a vibrant new culture. Students can choose to study at the School of International Business Administration or the School of Arts and Culture, where all modules are taught in English. To support your integration into the local community, the university also provides complimentary Korean language classes.

ATTENDANCE

• The Polytechnic’s attendance policy requires students to fulfill at least 85% attendance.

• Approved leave of absence, such as medical leave (with medical certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner), compassionate leave (for matters related to immediate family), and official leave (e.g. to represent Temasek Polytechnic in games, official events, debates, etc.) will be considered part of the 85% attendance.

PUNCTUALITY

You are to report punctually for your timetabled classes. You will be marked late if you report beyond the stated start time of the lesson. Lateness counts towards non-attendance which will affect your fulfillment of the attendance requirement. Hence, you are encouraged to report 5 minutes before the stated start time of your lesson.

ABSENCE WITH VALID REASONS

1. Medical Certificates (MC)

If you are sick and unable to attend class, you must apply for leave of Absence with Medical Certificate online via the TP Online Student Services system (TPOSS), together with a scanned copy of the MC uploaded during the online application. (TPOSS > Attendance > Click Apply/Submit MC)

All MCs must be submitted within 2 working days (excluding Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays) from the end of the MC period. For example, if you are issued an MC on Monday, you should submit the MC by Wednesday of the same week.

Only MCs issued by medical practitioners registered with the Singapore Medical Council will be accepted. Please note that MCs issued by Traditional Chinese Medical practitioners will not be accepted.

You must retain the original MC for at least 6 months as you may be required to produce the MC for audit checks.

2. Leave of Absence (LOA)

Applications for LOA (e.g. to participate in School performances, official events or competitions) must be submitted online via TPOSS system.

All LOAs must be submitted at least one week before the date of absence (excluding Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays), unless it is due to family emergencies, together with a scanned copy of the original supporting documents uploaded during the online application. (TPOSS > Attendance > Apply/Submit LOA)

You must retain original supporting documents for at least 6 months as you may be required to produce the supporting documents for audit checks.

The outcome of your MC or LOA application will be sent through your TP email account.

For approved absence from class, you must arrange with your respective subject tutors for make-up tutorials, at least one week in advance.

ABSENCE WITHOUT VALID REASONS

• For a full-semester subject with one tutorial or lab session per week, if you are absent from class for two times without valid reasons, you will be issued a warning e-mail. Another non-approved absence will result in a ‘non-graded pass’ academic penalty.

• If you do not meet the 85% attendance rule for a subject, you will be eligible for that subject’s main assessment. However, should you pass the affected subject at the main assessment, you will only be awarded a ‘P’ grade (non-graded pass) with an associated grade point of only 1.0.

The name list of students who have a ‘non-graded pass’ academic penalty for any subject will be published at TPOSS system before the start of the examinations. (TPOSS > Attendance > Subject Non-grading Notice)
